Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a system of assessing, diagnosing, treating and preventing a wide range of health problems.

Osteopaths are commonly known for treating back pain and postural problems caused by driving or work strain, the pain of arthritis and minor sports injuries.

Patients have also found osteopathy helpful for conditions such as digestive issues, circulatory problems, neuralgia and problems sleeping and for the symptoms of many others.

Osteopathic patients include the young, older people, manual workers, office professionals, children and sports people.

Osteopaths are trained to check for signs of serious conditions they cannot treat.  In these circumstances, they should inform you of what they believe is the problem and refer you to see your GP or hospital for further investigations.

Sports Therapy

As a Sports therapist I use a range of techniques and modalities to make sure people involved in sport and exercise are training and competing safely.

When sport and exercise-related injuries occur I’m here to help ease the pain and rehabilitate you back to full fitness. I also provide advice and support to help prevent injuries from happening in the first place.

My patients are both adults & children who are involved in sport or fitness at amateur or professional level, or for general fitness and recreational purposes.

As part of my services I can:-

  • conduct a fitness level assessment on people involved in sport and exercise, and advise on exercises prior to an event or fixture

  • test joints for ease and range of movement, pain and dysfunction

  • mentally and physically prepare sports people before a competition and use strapping, taping and massage techniques where necessary

  • provide emergency aid in a sport and exercise environment

  • examine and assess injuries and determine whether the sport and exercise participant can continue safely with the event or activity

  • treat and mobilise injuries to alleviate pain

  • rehabilitate injuries by using osteopathic and manual therapy techniques

  • design and monitor rehabilitation programmes appropriate to the injury and/or sport and level
